An integrated lesson "Lawsuit against Mankind" in a form of business game was held on October 8, 2015 in grade 10A by Topolnitskaya G.G.
The lesson was based on the content of the following school subjects: Geography, Ecology, Biology and Chemistry. The lesson was not intended as a play for staging therefore it was based on students’ improvisation.
Students performed actions specific to their characters and based on the prepared material and the ability to discuss and protect their opinions.
The aim of the lesson was to study the environmental problems of our time, such as the effects of overconsumption of planet's natural resources, and assessment of human influence on nature.
The participants represented Mankind, Judge, Lawyers, Prosecutors, Witnesses, and Jurors. The outcome of the lesson was the announcement of the verdict. The Court ruled: Mankind is guilty in the destruction of the environment, but as humans themselves are a part of it and cannot exist without natural environment, the Court issued a verdict: Mankind must behave in accordance with the principles of sustainable development, reduce its needs, and thus the emission of pollutants.
During the lesson one of the main principles of modern education: the formation of positive motivation to learn was implemented.
